Richmond

Richmond is a small town in Wayne County, Indiana with a population of 37,371. The average age of the population is 36. Blue-collar workers make up a large majority of Richmond's populace, with an estimated average household income of $ 35,898. The current downturn in the United States economy is affecting local employment, income and growth. The manufacturing sector is in recession. At the local level, there has been a loss of a few hundred jobs, particularly in durable goods manufacturing, such as wire, machine tools, heavy trucks and other transportation-related equipment. The city has one major newspaper, a college newspaper, and a few weekly magazines. It also is home to numerous radio stations serving the Wayne County Area. Just 40.7 minutes away from Dayton, Ohio, Richmond serves as a melting pot for media from both the hoosier and Buckeye states.
