The Palladium-Item is the city's oldest business. It is the third oldest newspaper in Indiana. It has been owned by the Gannet group since 1976. Gannet most notably owns USA Today. The pal-item has a circulation of about 15,856 Monday through Saturday, and 20,013 on Sundays.

Palladium Press, is staffed with employees who process commercial printing orders on both sheet-fed and web presses. In 2004, the Graphic four-unit press was sold and a 10-unit community press was installed. Their website is pal-item.com.

The publication has developed a bad reputation for mis-quotations and spinning stories in a direction that they weren't meant to take. For example, I was interviewed after my team beat our rival, Muncie Central, on homecoming. One of the reporters, who I will not name, asked me a series of questions like “What did YOU do to influence the team?” and “What do YOU hope this win will do for the team?”. I answered the questions without much thought. When the story came out the next morning, the reporter wrote it as if I was arrogant, selfish, and not a team player. Needless to say, this evoked numerous responses from my coach and team. I was not happy with this story at all, because it portrayed me in a negative light. He didn't ask questions about the football team, yet that's what the article was about, making me come off as a jerk. This is just one of numerous mistakes the pal-item has made.

Gazzette Shopper: The gazette shopper is a local magazine with coupons, promotions and recipes that is usually found on street corners downtown. I usually see them outside Little Sheba's sandwich shop.  There is no website for the shopper.
